Waste Water Treatment
HUMID OXIDIZATION WITH PEROXIDE (OHP®) is an advanced patent protected technology for wastewater treatment, developed by FMC Foret. It effectively solves the problem of hard-to-treat wastewaters, especially non-biodegradable waters, at competitive operational and investment costs.
Waste Water Treatment
As a general rule, industrial processes generate contaminated liquid effluent. Quite often these effluents contain unacceptable levels of concentrations of contaminants, requiring that they be properly treated before being discharged.
Environmental issues have become increasingly sensitive, with the resultant stricter legislation covering wastewater discharge, both at National and International levels. For these reasons, industrial companies find themselves compelled to comply with these more stringent regulations and obliged to discharge effluents in a cleaner way, free from contaminants. As a result, industries find themselves compelled to return the DISCHARGE water clean and free of contaminants.
To meet this increasing demand, FMC Foret S.A. has invested a lot of time and effort in developing a brand new process for sewage water treatment (containing high levels of organic matter) that successfully eliminated large amounts of COD* (yield up to 99%).
Humid Oxidization with Peroxide OHP®
Effective, efficient and adaptable
OHP® technology achives an organic load elimination yield of up to 99%. In the case of pre-treatment of a biological process, OHP is also designed to convert COD into BOD**.
OHP® also excels in its adaptability to changing effluent. In the event of changes in environmental legislation, the outlet parameters can be adjusted.
OHP® requires a relatively small surface area, which varies between 40 and 100 m2. Thanks to its modular concept, it is perfectly compatible with other existing biological or physical-chemical treatment systems.
The excellent result achieved by OHP® have made it a leading process for wastewater treatment systems. In addition to the endorsement by our customers who have expressed their high-degree of satisfaction, OHP® has been included in the latest BREF review as Best Available Technology (BAT) in waste water treatment.

* COD - (Chemical Oxygen Demand) measures the content in water of reducing matter (usually organic). Current legislation uses this parameter to establish the degree of contamination in sewage water.
** BOD - (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) is a chemical procedure for determining the uptake rate of dissolved oxygen by the biological organisms in a body of water. It is widely used as an indication of the quality of water.
